Hazi Abdul Motallib

Hazi Abdul Motallib, also known as Mutlib Miah, was a respected social worker and philanthropist from the Sylhet district of Bangladesh. He devoted his life to the betterment of society, particularly in his home region, and was well-regarded both locally and abroad, especially in the United Kingdom where he spent part of his life. Known for his integrity, humility, and commitment to community welfare, he actively worked for the development of his area, including infrastructure projects and founding the Burunga Union Foundation.

Although not wealthy, his generosity and willingness to help others were widely recognised. He was involved in various social and educational organisations, including serving as the president of Balaganj College and contributing to the Balaganj-Osmaninagar Education Trust. A devout Muslim, he dedicated much of his time to Tablighi Jamaat activities, encouraging others to follow the path of Allah. Even in his later years, he continued his social work until his passing at the age of 82 in August 2016.
