The Burunga Union Foundation UK held its biannual meeting, followed by the announcement of its new committee by the Election Commission. The programme was completed in two sessions.
The first session was chaired by the organisation’s Chairman, Abdul Alim, and jointly conducted by the General Secretary, Ashraf Ahmed, and Assistant General Secretary, Lahin Chowdhury. The programme began with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an, delivered by organisation member Sanwar Ahmed.
The biannual reports were subsequently presented by the Chairman, General Secretary, and Treasurer of the organisation. During the past two years, the foundation distributed approximately £50,000 to support education, Ramadan initiatives, the Green Clean project, and the development of an Alokito Burunga (Enlightened Burunga).
The second session was conducted by the Chief Election Commissioner, Nurul Islam Chowdhury, and Election Commissioner Sanur Mia. The Election Commission announced a 39-member executive committee for 2026-2028
Abdul Alim was re-elected as Chairman, while Ashraf Ahmed was re-elected as General Secretary. Lahin Chowdhury was elected as Treasurer.
Following the announcement, the Election Commissioners formally handed over responsibilities to the newly elected committee.
